Seminar on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Awareness Held at BUBT

A seminar titled "Awareness Building on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment" was held at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) with the aim of increasing awareness and ensuring a safe environment for students. The seminar was organized by the ‘Complaint Committee to Prevent Sexual Harassment’, BUBT, on Thursday, 7 May 2026, at 3:00 PM in the International Conference Hall of the university.

The seminar was presided over by Professor Dr. Syed Sarfaraj Hamid, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Convener of the Complaint Committee to Prevent Sexual Harassment, BUBT. Selina Ahmed, Senior Gender Equality Specialist, and Professor Christine Richardson, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Jagannath University, were present as Keynote Speakers at the event. In the main discussion of the seminar, Selina Ahmed highlighted the importance of gender equality and social awareness. On the other hand, Professor Christine Richardson shed light on legal remedies and preventive measures against sexual harassment in educational institutions and workplaces. The speakers emphasized that a harassment-free university environment can be ensured by maintaining ethical and professional standards.

The program commenced at 3:00 PM with the arrival of guests followed by the recitation from the Holy Quran. After the welcome speech, the keynote speakers discussed their designated topics. Following the Chief Guest's speech, honorary mementos were handed over to the invited guests. Finally, the program concluded at 5:00 PM with a vote of thanks from the Session Chair.
Deans of various faculties, heads of departments, teachers, and a large number of students participated in the seminar. The organizing committee stated that such initiatives will continue in the future to enhance the overall security and awareness of the university.
